Style with Impact

Fostering community through
shared fashion

Cultivating community & sustainability through the exchange of gently used clothing.

Mission

Grounded in the principles of intersectionality and Ubuntu, Beyond My Sista’s Closet: Ubuntu Style Impact’s mission is to uplift and enhance the empowerment of women and girls by providing access to culturally reflective and sustainable clothing and resources. We enable them to embrace their identities, support one another, and drive lasting change in their lives and communities.

Vision

A world where all women and girls have access to a diverse and sustainable wardrobe, honouring the tradition of Ubuntu by gifting clothing to enhance empowerment and uplift one another, fostering a community of support and shared identity.

Objectives

We aim to facilitate clothing exchanges that build community, promote sustainable style practices that enhance women’s inherent empowerment, and support those in need to strengthen their confidence and self-worth. We aim to foster solidarity among women, reduce textile waste through recycling initiatives, and collaborate with like-minded organizations to amplify our impact. We are also committed to measuring our effectiveness, advocating for sustainable style, and preserving cultural heritage to celebrate the diverse identities of women and girls.

What We Do

Beyond My Sista’s Closet: Ubuntu Style Impact is dedicated to enhancing the empowerment of all women and girls. We focus on Black women and girls, a community we are proud to be a part of while celebrating our rich cultural heritage. More than just a clothing exchange, we strive to create a meaningful impact in the lives of women and girls, regardless of their racialization.

Our approach is unique and rooted in the Ubuntu philosophy. This philosophy emphasizes our interconnectedness and shared humanity, recognizing that women experience intersecting barriers related to race, gender, and class. By addressing these complexities, we aim to dismantle the systemic obstacles that hinder access to resources and opportunities. Our platform provides access to clothing that reflects diverse identities and experiences, fostering pride and self-expression. Our mission is to uplift the dignity and worth of every woman and girl, ensuring that their inherent empowerment is recognized and enhanced.

We invite you, our supporters and potential donors, to join us in creating a vibrant community where style meets purpose. Your involvement is crucial in making a lasting difference.
